Tagua Tagua — kite and wingfoil in the Puelo valley
Five days on a glacial lake reachable only by boat, with a jetski following the group all week and a drone overhead. Six riders, no more.
The plan
What the week looks like
Tagua Tagua is a five-day kite and wingfoil trip on a glacial lake in the Puelo valley, deep in Chilean Patagonia, based at the Mítico Puelo Lodge — which you reach by boat, because there is no road. Six riders maximum, a dedicated support jetski all week, downwinders along the axis of the lake, and drone filming. This is a trip for riders who already have their own gear: intermediate level and up.
We collect you in Puerto Varas and take you to Punta Canelo, barge slot already booked. From Punta Maldonado the lodge boat brings you in — that boat and a light aircraft are the only two ways to arrive.
The lake runs along a valley floor between native forest and granite walls, which is what makes the wind line up along its axis. The jetski is what turns that into a proper riding week: it follows the group down the lake, so you can commit to a long downwinder knowing there is a pickup behind you.
On days without wind the lodge has its own answers: boat out to the waterfall at the north end, kayak, native-forest trekking and hot tubs.
Intermediate to advanced in kite, wingfoil or both, with your own gear. You need to get yourself out of the water, hold ground upwind, self-rescue and be comfortable riding far from shore. The water is glacial.

Preguntas frecuentes
Common questions before booking
Can I learn here from scratch?
No. This trip needs intermediate level or better and your own gear. If you are starting out, Puclaro or the New Year trip on Lake Llanquihue are the ones built for that.
How cold is the water?
Glacial — the lake is fed by meltwater. Bring your own wetsuit; we carry a backup 4/3 with boots and hood in case yours turns out to be too thin.
Why is the group only six people?
Because there is one support jetski and one operator, and beyond six riders it stops being able to cover everybody. It is a limit set by the safety plan, not by the accommodation.
