Preá vs Barrinha
Preá is a great spot. That's why it's full.
In high season, Preá's beach is a sky full of kites: beautiful in a photo, brutal for your waterstart. Every attempt competes for space with dozens of riders, and lessons move at the speed of the traffic.
In Barrinha the same trade wind comes in cleaner, low tide opens a flat-water lagoon, and the beach stays empty as far as you can see. You learn with VIP attention: your instructor, you, and at most one other student. And you keep sleeping in Preá — we pick you up and drop you back by 4x4, free with your lesson package.
Jericoacoara (Jeri) vs Barrinha
Jeri is for the sunset, not for your first lesson
Jericoacoara is one of Brazil's prettiest villages and a fine spot for experienced riders. But for learning it has three serious problems: the wind arrives gusty after crossing the town and the dune, there are rocks — the famous Pedra Furada is right there — and in places the wind tends offshore: if something goes wrong, it pushes you out to sea.
Our honest advice: keep Jeri for the sunset on the dune, and take your lessons in Barrinha. Once you ride upwind on your own, we'll show you Jeri from the water — with a guide.

Are there kitesurf lessons in Preá itself?
Yes, several schools teach on Preá's main beach — which is exactly the problem: in season you share the water with dozens of kites, crossed lines and queues to launch. We teach minutes away in Barrinha, on empty flat water, and the free 4x4 pick-up means staying in Preá costs you nothing in convenience.
Is Barrinha better than Preá for learning to kitesurf?
For learning, yes. Same trade wind, but with kilometres of empty beach and a giant flat-water lagoon at low tide. No traffic means twice the attempts per hour, so your first waterstart comes in days, not weeks.
Can I learn to kitesurf in Jericoacoara?
We do not recommend Jeri for beginners: the wind arrives gusty after crossing the town and the dune, there are rocks near Pedra Furada, and in places the wind tends offshore — if something goes wrong it pushes you away from the beach. Enjoy Jeri for the sunset; learn in Barrinha.
