The plan

What the week looks like

A kitesafari is a kite trip where you live on the boat. Eight days sailing the northern Red Sea from Hurghada —Tawila, Geisum, Ashrafi, Gubal and Abu Mungar— riding turquoise flat lagoons around uninhabited islands that no day trip reaches. Seven nights in a double cabin with air conditioning and private bathroom, two zodiacs in the water daily, twelve people. Upper-intermediate level required.

The boat is the whole idea. Instead of driving to a spot and back, you wake up anchored next to the day's lagoon, ride it, then move overnight to the next one. The itinerary follows the forecast rather than a fixed schedule.

Two zodiacs are in the water every day: one to drop you onto the sandbanks and islets, one dedicated to rescue. That second one is what makes riding in the middle of the Red Sea reasonable rather than reckless.

Coaching is intermediate and advanced — upwind, transitions, toeside and downwinders with the boat following. Video analysis on deck each evening, and a forecast, tide and anchorage briefing every morning.

Requirements: upper-intermediate level. You ride upwind independently, you get yourself in and out, and you handle your own gear. Travel insurance covering adventure sports and medical evacuation is mandatory to board.

Preguntas frecuentes

Common questions before booking

What level do I need?

Upper-intermediate. You need to ride upwind with real autonomy, get yourself in and out on your own, and manage your kit unassisted. There is no beginner lane on this trip — in open water off an uninhabited island there cannot be one.

Is gear rental included?

No. Coaching, radio helmet, the boat, the zodiacs and everything else are included, but kite rental on board is charged separately. Most people on this trip bring their own.

What about the visa and flights?

Not included, but we help: we advise on air routes, stopovers and the visa process before you buy your ticket. Airport transfers between Hurghada (HRG) and the marina are included both ways.
